What’s that plastic thingmebob for ?

In the boot of this e200 there’s a plastic bar attached to the floor. The corners it seems are used to attach a net but what’s the rest for ?

I was guessing but, I imagine that two eyelets / lugs would damage that thin board panel (parts pull out or bending of that thin cover) if any load was applied. I guess the idea being that a cargo net should prevent loads moving.
