What makes the perfect Winter car

.....until it breaks down....and it will. We had three at work....rubbish. One needed two turbos within 3 months. Their bad rep for reliability and running costs is fully deserved imo
They must have made some good ones...although an ex neighbour of ours had a succession of them and without exception they all left an oil slick that the Exxon Valdez would have been impressed with.We got used to them regularly arriving and departing on the backs of tilt beds courtesy of the local recovery company.
 
It is the 4.4 so not known for blown turbos, although the 3.6 is. I've had it just over a year and (touch wood) nothing has broken or gone wrong with it in 12,000 miles. It has covered 170,000 in total. I have a slush fund waiting! This engine is a Ford lump used in the US in many F150 and F250 trucks I believe coupled to an 8 speed ZF box
