Mercedes E270 cdi, 2003
Pls, is Mercedes ATF 001 989 68 03 13 OK for my gearbox (I think 722.3, mercedes e270 cdi late 2002 prod.)

If not which one may I use?

I have just answered your question in the original thread.

Not wishing to contradict what has been said on the other thread it would appear that FUCHS TITAN ATF 3353 MB APPROVAL 236.12 has now been superceded by the more up to date FUCHS TITAN ATF 4134 MB approval 236.14 ----which is cheaper! Fuchs Titan ATF 4134 for Mercedes - meets MB 236.14

either would be fine for your box.

So has anyone used the Fuchs Titan ATF 4134 in a 5 speed 'box? Does it improve the performance of the 'box over previous versions?

The problem is Placebo... no one can really know if there gearboxes changes better with different oils in the same state of wear/degradation.
Its easy to say my box blew up 50K miles after changing the oil and it must be because I didnt use oil that was fortified with special mercedes feel good juice..
You would never really know either way...

I found that the ATF134 (236.14) made my 5 speed 722.6 box vibrate/shudder on gearchange as the lock up clutch engaged.

When I switched back to the 5 speed fluid (shell 3403 m115 236.10) it made the gear changes much smoother. I think it allows a bit more slip and was the oil designed for the box.

But that 236.14 fluid is ideal for your gearbox and is listed on the spec sheet on WIS. I suspect there was another issue.

236.10 should not be used according to MB on your 220

Yes I know MB say this. There has been some lengthy discussions on one of the American forums suggesting that the 7 speed fluid is not good for the 5 speed box.

Noticed something interesting/weird with 722.6 trany - Benzworld.org - Mercedes-Benz Discussion Forum

All I know is the car was doing this despite several fluid changes with the 7 speed fluid. I tried everything: testing for glycol, changing the lockup solenoid, changing the torque converter, getting valve body refurbished and it still shuddered.

It is possible it was just coincidence but I'm happy it is finally running well.:D

Cheers
