where has this sl been

there was no such thing as a sl300 right? it was 300sl then replaced by sl280 and sl320. weird thing about this car is ,dvla list it as date of manufacture 1992 but first reg as 1998 "R47 OWT",if it was an import it would have a date related number, so was it sat unregistered for 6years????looks like alot of work though.

It's also got the later digital dash. I thought Mercedes didn't introduce them until the upgraded engines at the first face lift?

oh dear, deja-vu with the listing.

usual rant about ebay being rubbish and a let down (but it is still listed on ebay?), also moans about a non paying bidder (probably ran a mile when they realised exactly what they had bid on!). all this written at length in bold capitals, almost threatening. to top it all there is another 129 in the back of the picture that probably has all the parts on that this doner car is missing. spares only, not worth the bids it has now. and the model is probably the least desirabe with that m103 engine.

totally agree, the m103 certainly is a superb engine. i know one in a w126 that has nearly done 500k miles!! it just makes this early 129 worth even less. and i am sure that the dash and the engine were never fitted in the same car. this one stinks...
