Hi folks ..... Another newbie to the forum , hopefully someone can advise me hear
I'm looking to buy a LWB sprinter 2008 / 09 , initially i was told by a salesman at the mercedes garage not to buy a 315 but to buy a 313 (I must stress at this point ..... He's bulling at the gate to sell me a brand new 318 !!! ) anyway , I've found 2 vans for sale by the same guy , an 08 313 LWB with 170k kms very clean looking, 1 yrs test 6 mths tax €8300 and 09 315 LWB 1yrs test , very clean , full service history , book stamped all the way apparently 143k kms €8500
My head tells me to go for the one with the service history the 315 , the van was sign written which has now been removed but I did see a photo and have the name of the company and the nature of the business would suggest no hard work , I may ring them and check the history ..... But do I do as the man in the dealership says and buy the 313 ?? Anyone have any experiences or advice ?
Cheers

A 313 2.2 is just about adequate power-wise IMHO. I ran one for 7 years and although it was quicker than most of the competition I wish I had bought the (at the time) bigger engine version 316 2.7. That said, over 7 years it would have cost more to run.
I sold my Sprinter with around 180,00 miles on the clock and it still ran really well - Regular oil changes made a difference I'm sure.

No one can guarantee the mileage but the FMBSH van you are considering is more likely to be straight.
Although there's no absolute guarantee, do try to contact the previous owner about the history.
Clocking and interval clocking is easy to do and more commonplace than some would like to believe.

A 318 will put a smile on your face, but you'll only get around 26mpg around town and perhaps 31mpg on a run.
