Hi guys... I have started to feel whistling noise for my 272 engine ....
Its done 70k ... Any thoughts??

I get a whistling noise on over run at about 60/70 MPH. It appears to come from the rear of the car, fuel pump?

Vacum or PCV hose????? Also once had a blocked PCV that whistled.

What is a PCV hose and where is it?

Positive Crank Ventilation.

I have limited understanding of this component but I have recently had my crankcase breather valve replaced as I had gases escaping passed it for a split second after I turned the car off.
You could hear a hiss for a moment.

My understanding is that this ventilation system re-routes blow-by gases back into the inlet manifold for another attempt at combustion.
Blow-by gases being the fuel and air that blow passed the pistons during the combustion cycle which fail to ignite.

It's an emissions system that prevents gases escaping into the atmosphere.

But please correct me if I'm wrong.

Relatively inexpensive components that are simple to replace.
Usually located at the back of the engine.
The main issue with replacing is actually getting to the bugger.

PCV is normally situated at the top of the engine, coming out of the rocker cover.
The hose is thicker than a vacuum hose. When you find it give the hose a slight squeeze and the noise should change.

It's right at the back of the engine on the M156 engine.
Just below the air inlet.
Pig to get to.
