Whose wheel caps are these?

Apologies for slight thread duplication but I have a thread running about the wrong valves being fitted to my alloy wheels after refurbishment. That thread has more or less run its course but I have just discovered that not only have I got the wrong valves but also the wrong wheel caps. My car is a 2007 W209CLK 500. It's not an AMG although it has AMG wheels with a plain wheel cap having paint.JPG PowderNSF.JPG the Mercedes logo in the centre. Is there anything we can tell about the other cap with the Mercedes name around the outside and is it from a modern car or an older model? I suspect that the wrong TPMC valves I have acquired and these wheel caps may belong to the same car (owner is probably as cross as I am) and although it is the refurbishment firm's problem, I'm curious.

i Think the only difference between them is that the one in the second picture were usually fitted to smaller wheels.

Could be wrong though.

The more mundane version of the C-Class and E-Class where fitted with the laurel-wreath caps... but the standard ones were blue.

Not sure which car would have been fitted as standard with black laurel-wreath caps, though the black ones are available as after-market options from MB (and off eBay).

I could be wrong but I’ve a feeling the black laurel wreath caps were first seen on the SLR!

That first picture is the same as my car, so I assume that those are the original centre caps for AMG "Spoken" wheels (I think that's what they're called).

It's entirely plausible that the centre caps belong to the same person as the TPMS valves.

The caps you used to have are around £45 a set from your main dealer. I got them from there. eBay ones didn’t fit well.

I don’t think you should use this company again :)

To be fair they refurbished the set of 4 again FOC, even though he had kerbed one of the wheels!
This was probably a genuine mistake

There’s a whole lot of clumsiness going on here. :)

Have you checked they put the same tyres back on?

I’m starting to wonder if he even got the same car back......:)

Its a bit worrying that this firm fits and balances tyres, do they also do wheel repair ? welding etc ? what else have they mixed up ?

Surely the owner of the other valve stems must have returned by now complaining of tyre pressure warning on his dashboard !!??

Bizarre :dk:

They found my caps once I sent them a picture. They don't want the metal valves, but nor do I so they are coming out with rebalancing etc on Wednesday. Makes me wonder why they even put them in. Any way, hopefully sorted.

So a genuine mix up. Forgive them :)

All sorted. They were very apologetic about the whole business. The car with the missing TPMS valves and centre caps was a 2014 C Class belonging to a dealer and hadn't been collected so the missing valves hadn't been noticed - but no doubt they would have been once the car came up with error signals. Hopefully, the end of this saga.

And you got a free wheel refurb! :)

Which I didn't need and wouldn't have bothered about except for the fact that the flaking paint after the original refurb had turned a mild scuff into a disaster. But yes, all four wheels are now immaculate again pending the inevitable ambush by pavement, which I hope this time will just remain a scuff.

You can’t please everyone :)

Perhaps they could have just painted over the kerbed alloy then, or refurbed them and then kerbed it back to how it was.

Hang on, why did you get them refurbed in the first place again? :D

Most places wouldn't have touched it (for free) after you kerbed it... they really did help you out.
