Hi can any tell how to bypass wiper switches and power through a new switch on dash just for when they don't work through wiper stalk .

PS see below

Hi have had problem with wipers not working! I have replaced Front Sam, Rear Sam water damage, wiper stalk , bonnet switch! So am at loss what to do next as none of the parts I have changed make any difference :wallbash:
Any ideas please.

Power at the wiper motor? Dead wiper motor?

Hi wiper motor has power works fine but randomly noting so what to power with another switch for times it does not work, as in override sams etc.

Thanks Hog

Sounds like a failing relay. The concern would be that the SAM may report errors if you removed the wiper load from it.

Have you had the car on STAR? Any error codes stored?
If the car thinks a front door is open the wipers won't operate (maybe the same for the front windows but not 100% on that) Also when stationary the wipers stop, or the interval increases. Too many inputs to guess...

Hi just had it on Star today only fault was Overhead Control Panel if that has anything to do with it? Wipers stop at park position .

Thanks Hog

What was the fault with the OCP?
Do you have a rain sensor, that's connected through the OCP

TBH even the simplest wiper switch is pretty complex as you have to take into account the self park mechanism - which in turn has to disconnect the motor from power and then short out the armature (to stop the motor quickly) in very short succession, then the delay wipe, flick wipe etc.
a good auto electrician should be able to diagnose the fault and probably save you money in the long run.

The stalk is connected to the SCM, the SCM takes those signals and puts them on the CAN network for the front SAM to see, which turns the wiper on. SCM is in the steering column, so no switch possible there.

This could be a wiper motor fault, you need to know what error codes is coming from where when it doesn't work.

SAM wont be happy if you feed power into the wiper motor whilst it is connected to the motor.
