I must say the more i read about cars breaking down the more i worry about my v6 breaking down but dont ever see about c280's having troubles. Maybe i should stop reading but i do enjoy. T.

Stop worrying.

My dads been driving MB's for 40 years , I've been driving them for 10.

Never broken down yet ( touch wood lol )

Well thanks Howard for your confidence in my servicing, fettling and nurturing. Feel better now and have to admit the only car that has let me down since 1976 was a reliant robin but that's another story and the rear axle exploded.

Few people post about how reliable their cars are. It may be tempting fate but I have only had 1 MB break down and need recovering. The 124 when both the fuel pump and OVP relays packed up in unison.

the c280 is a tough car, myold c36 would keep on going with minimal issues.

just keep on top of servicing and any minor problems

Last thing I'd worry about on a MB is the engine. I once bought a 5-pot Sprinter (turned out to be clocked and I gave it back when I sussed it out) that had covered around 400,000 miles and it ran incredibly well.

My former 210 should be nearing 200k now, (that I6 will never snuff it) my present 210 is nearing 190k and my last Sprinter left me after covering almost 180k.
The 202 is round the clock and current Vito is 77k and feels like new.

If only MB could bring themselves to invest in some decent bodywork and paint processes.

How many mercs do you see on the back of recovery trucks?
Plenty of French cars but very few mercs

Die if you worry.

Die if you don't.

So why worry at all?

My 2013 coupe broke down 9 times in 9 months ownership. Returned to dealer and rejected. Also managed to hitch a lift on 3 different recovery trucks.

The mercs I see always commit suicide and set fire to themselves :)

My 208 v6 is on 195k. It doesn't miss a beat, never broken down. Great engine again let down by shameful bodywork. I ve had myn painted 3 times

Was it a Blu emotion?
well blue efficiency yeah, 1.6 engine. The catalytic converter melted and the more was an engine fault that couldn't be traced. Still not been sorted as far as I know

:fail

No sooner had I mentioned 5000 trouble free miles to the friend who sold me her late husbands car that it went into limp home mode:D

But I've had words with her (the car) and told her that I expect her to be as reliable as our approaching 200K BMW
