Are they road legal in the UK?

Apart from the "styling" (if that's what that picture is supposed to represent), the yellow beam supposedly cuts through fog better. After the first mile, you'll come to realize nothing cuts real fog, and a "fog" light's best utility is as a cornering light.
I'd also read on the yellow vs. white light question (I think in Motor) back in the seventies, when I first became interested in auxiliary lamps, the rather pointed question: "How much of your time do you spend looking at things under yellow light?"

You can get yellow HIDs: 3000K colour temperature for both headlights and foglamps

Because they are really bright can have a really quite amazing look in the right car and in real terms actually work better than the bright blue ones because the human eye is more sensitive at that end of the spectrum.

Also blue/white light is absorbed more by water than yellow so you get a better result in wet conditions. However in dense fog nothing really helps that much!

Yellow lights were first used in France during the war, in order that French cars could be differentiated from Germans at night.

Until 1991, French cars had yellow lights, at which point the law changed and they became white, like everyone else in Europe. In France, if you own a pre-1992 car, you can still use yellow lights if you want, but not on later cars.

AFAIK, they have never been 'standard' fitment on UK cars, and I presume their legality will be as much down to brightness as anything else.

Dunno about all that , but that r107 looks
