Had a root and found this document, it's tyre and wheel insurance but mainly gap insurance. Thought the tyre and wheel might come in handy with the tyre wall being shot at and sufficient even tread across the plane of the tyre. Must be worth a stab at least?

Yes thanks for that info pleassy I'm over near Warrington . I have booked it in at Warrington merc next week but let's see what they are prepared to do under the warranty. Failing that il get the job done outside the warranty conditions. All I want is peace of mind mate... Oh and some tyres ...

I used to get 7500 miles out of the P zero on the SLK 55AMG and that was lite on the back end, it isn't the mileage ware in question, its where the ware is taking place , on the shoulder, the actual tread is fine, is should not be wearing on the shoulder

Point noted, ultimately I don't want my car to run on the shoulder of the tyres ...it's dangerous...high speed blow out coming right up...not with my family in it

I must admit I agree, I've had three new cars from Mercedes and not had any issues with them in terms of engine failure. It's a tough one to call on in respect of payments, ask for three years free servicing, I think they would call it reasonable if your not stopping payments.
