Tyron bands used to popular a few years fitted to caravan wheels, their purpose being that they kept the tyre seated against the inner walls off the rim if the tyre suddenly deflated. They were fitted to a couple of caravans I had but I (thankfully) never had cause to test their effectiveness.

Only a guess but seeing as the plug connectors are yellow are they part of the trigger for the airbag in a frontal collision?

Sounds similar to what my car was doing about 18 mths ago,turned out to be a duff injector.

Have used SK myself and they were spot on. Not the most customer comfortable establishment but the owner certainly knows his stuff and prices are very good.

Yep its a sealed unit alright ! I know this as i had to take one of mine out the other day as a bulb had fallen inside it. You could try soaking it in hot soapy water i suppose to soften the crud and then flush it out.
