I have a gurring, rattleing kind of noise that im pretty sure is coming from the alternator. Its worse from cold start up but once warm only seems to occur at around 1000 rpm. I have noticed a few times that after a good long run the noise disapears altogether but after the car has cooled down...
After my car was rear-ended a couple of months ago I've had an intermittent "battery" warning light appear on the instrument cluster. I initially suspected that the battery was damaged somehow but it's not shown signs of any problem.
The warning light has usually lit up for about 20 seconds...
does anyone know the price for the above on a C36? I'm assuming it's a standard W202 part?
Also, anyone know of a good place to get a reconditioned one? Around Manchester would be good.

Im after a beefier alternator for my 1.8 190E as its only 55amp as standard. Does anyone know a straight swap alternator that offers a lot higher current figure?

After a total water pump failure which resulted in the drive belt coming off I have fitted a new water pumt to my Vito van 108 Cdi. It is fitted with power steering and when I came to putting the drive belt back on, it would appear to be about 10 inches too long. What path does the belt take...
I installed a 143amp alternator in my 1993 190E 2.3.
My 190E originally had a 70amp alternator. I swapped pulleys and rotated the rear housing so the wiring would line up. It fits and works perfectly! I have not upgraded the cable to my battery yet, but it seems to be working fine for now...
