My mate Dave recently had the privilege of being offered a SAC and received the following info., confirming various discussions here:
A useful summary, I thought.
Just done a speeding awareness course........
YOU DO NOT NEED TO DISCLOSE THAT YOU HAVE DONE THE COURSE TO YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY, OR ANY INSURANCE COMPANY.
If they ask you the Association of Insurance Brokers want you inform them if one the companies asks you as they shouldn't be asking...
Today I attended my speed awareness course, which was actually quite enjoyable, being very well presented by a couple of jovial "senior" guys.
At the end of the course, one of the guys confirmed that completing the course meant the speeding event that brought us there was now null and void- no...
I know this story comes from the Daily Wail and therefore is of dubious provenance, but there has long been suspicion that Driver Awareness Courses benefit ex-Police officers rather more than the attendees: Ex-police questioned over £1.9million paid by motorists on speed awareness courses.
Did 40 in Limehouse Link, got snapped.
Paperwork came through.
£100 + 3 points
Or
£97 for speed awareness.
I always thought speed awareness cost more not less than the points.
Also you do have to agree to them sharing the info so i suppose there is no way out of telling...
I've been a naughty boy and have been caught speeding again. Totally my fault doing 39mph in a 30 zone my only defence being I thought it was a 40 zone. I'm very surprised that they offered me the course as I thought it was only for people 5 or 6 mph over the limit but I'd rather pay the £84...
Most police forces in England and Wales have adopted new speeding rules that allow motorists to do up to 86mph and avoid points on their licence.
It means drivers can pay to do a speed awareness course instead, if caught at up to 10% above the limit plus 9mph.
At a meeting of the...
Hi
Someone that I know has been caught speeding at 75 in a 40 on a 3 lane stretch of the A12 in London.
They have been given 6 points, is it possible to ask for the speed awareness course in a hope to reduce the 6 points to may be 3 points?
Regards
Tan
I was travelling up the A34 yesterday in the inside lane. There was a guy in the outside lane catching me up by about 10 mph. I suddenly noticed a broken down car in the inside lane ahead with his hazards on and signalled to move out as he was in a bloody dangerous position and I could see two...
38mph in a 30mph resulted in me being offered the chance to trade points for a 4 hour speed awareness course. (Thames Valley).
Overall I thought the morning to be positve, considering that none of the 24 delegates wanted to be there.............
Here are a few things that were a surprise...
Just in case anyone is interested, in the Thames Valley region you will currently be offered a Speed Awareness course as an alternative to a fixed penalty for being caught at the following speeds:
30 limit: from 35 to 39 mph
40 limit: from 46 to 50 mph
50 limit: from 57 to 61 mph
60 limit...
Rather than resurrect the old thread (which tended to steer off into other wild subjects), here are the promised results of the Speed Awareness Course, which I attended yesterday.
Summary: Got flashed doing 36 in a 30 zone back in July on the A69 Carlisle to Newcastle. Was given the option of...
