Take a 12v battery which from new starts at around say 12.7V.
When it reaches 11.9, it is supposedly discharged.
How can a battery at this level still turn a car over fine without any trouble?
Or is this not what is being referred to?

My car came back this week after a B service from the main dealers which was in excess of £500 (no extras) and for this sort of money they didn't even check the state of the air filters.
I popped the air filters out today and they were fully clogged up and in a really bad state....see pics. I'm...
Now I'm no expert on car parts...
Seen a few C63's for sale by MB, and a lot of them have brake discs looking like this:
If they look like that will they need replacing soon? Or is it that the car has just been sat still on the forecourt for a while, and they turn like that till they've got...
I found out recently that manufacturers intend to phase out OBD2 ports and add SIM cards to ECU's to contact emergency services in case of an accident. Oh and of course to prevent anyone other than the main dealer working on your car ! Interesting thought for people like myself who buy cars...
I am interested in a e-class state but I understand a new model will be announced soon and be available in 2016.

What is the current state of CREE LED car lighting these...
Probably the wrong section to ask this question in but..........
I'm in the fortunate position of having the option to have car allowance in lieu of a company car and looking at the competitive lease deals am considering a C63 saloon or coupe on a 2 or 3 year lease versus purchasing a 1 to 2...
I'm looking to possibly replace my business laptop with something high-end, suitable for numerical simulation software. So processing, RAM, GFX and HD performance are all important considerations.
Recently my attention has been drawn to laptops with SSD (solid state drives). The price is still...

After hearing about John's current battery problems, I was thinking that perhaps I should check up on the state of my battery now that we've entered the shorter days season.
For clarity, nothing is wrong (touching wood ) as far as I know, but better safe than sorry.
Now, in...
