He is as bad as the dreamers in Mercedes Enthusiast who markup the cars by 100%!

Literally.

But, as with here, I cannot fathom why someone will by from "Marques of Exceptional Distinction" the same car, at double the price, that it was advertised for by the previous owner.

*scratches head*

Anyways, I have a 1992 600SEL with full service history by a mate of mine but lost the book but it's a good 'un. Bulletproof, nothing goes wrong with them, cheap to run and a future classic. One company director lady owner with gentle highway miles. A good runner. POA but want £26,000. A bargain.

/sarcasm off.

He must have read this thread, he's added that he changes the oil every 12 months.

That's not actually a service though.

Claiming FMBSH (apart from the last one ) strongly implies the car has been serviced according to the manufacturer's schedule, which clearly isn't the case.

+1

Many cars have parts that are scheduled to be changed by age/mileage, whichever occurs sooner. You even see such cheapskatedness from sellers with NSXs (now that's something REALLY don't want to go pop).

Now that's intereting. I emailed yesterday, before starting this thread asking:

"Dear olivella2007,

Hi,

The way I'm reading your write up the car hasn't had an oil change since 05/2003, nearly 6 years ago. Is that correct?

Regards,

Neil"

& he replied:

"Hi
Yes that is correct the car would need an oil change prior to being put into use although the oil in the car is very clean
Regards

- olivella2007"

He's either very forgetfull or.................

Either way I'm out!

I believe he changed that today.

Yesterday the line was the oil was last changed 6 years ago.

That particular engine was the subject of a MB Germany bulletin for the flange gasket adjustment, especially on engine numbers from #5227100 to #5227999. My German is not perfect but is appears that the viscosity rating of the bearing seals was not in parity with 20W mineral oil.

Unless the flange gasket adjustment has been done, there would be a real issue there.

But no mention of either the flange gasket adjustment or the varied bearing rating in his ad so presume that it was not done?

NOW SOLD, Expect to see it at one of the marque specialists for 13k sometime soon. :D

Boo! I was wondering whether my drivel (completely made up nonsense) was going to make its way into the advert.

Agree completely re the markup.

If anyone is looking at a CL420 with lambswood seatcovers, the seller (as in the person who was selling it, not who has it now), wanted £4200.

The new specialist owner wants......just under £10,000!

It does appear to be lower. A quick check of the suspension would tell you.
I believe AMG used white springs, and there should be a part number printed on the spring somewhere. Being AMG, I would think it will be an "HWA" number.

Wow, I thought I knew a few things about Mercedes cars but you guys top the charts!!
