My R231 SL was serviced on 22 June 18, just before 3 year warranty expired on 25 June 18.

I didn’t use the car until today .. within a few seconds after start up and headlights on (underground garage so headlights come on), I get the above error

turning the car off and on again does not resolve it

any ideas? is this going to be expensive? windscreen where the camera is is clean

dealer did not reset service indicator so car showing “service A due” .. was wondering if this is related?

I tried resetting service indicator but the car won’t allow it, saying reset “not completed”

I had this when I first bought my car, just before which a new screen was fitted. Turned out that the camera that detects oncoming headlamps and then dims your own was not seated correctly in its holder. Remove the over head panel cover and check the connector to the camera and that it is mounted correctly. It may have moved

I had a new windscreen fitted 3 weeks ago, 2 weeks before the service ... but the error just came on today

Who fitted the new screen?

The camera should have been recalibrated when the screen was fitted.

autoglass.

Camera was recalibrated as speed limit assist, lane Keeping Assist all works. There is only one camera on the windscreen

MB thinks I need a new headlight or a new headlight control unit. Can’t be sure until they take the front bumper off.

MB may cover under goodwill. Otherwise, big ouch as new headlight is around £2000 plus £600 labour

after 2 weeks of error messages, the error message disappeared yesterday

Half the time MB are just guessing, always the most expensive guess first

ILS fixed. Turns out one of the connectors to a control unit was slightly loose.

Well done Mercedes Tonbridge for sorting this FOC even though car out of warranty

Glad to hear this, you don't happened to know which connector/cable it was by any chance do you/ I have exact same issue!

I've been thinking about an extended warranty for mine (April 2020 onwards) - that just clinches it for me...

Sounds like you have the facelift with the LED headlights so should be OK?

No idea unfortunately

ILS warning light returned a fortnight ago. Turns out the control unit for the right headlight is gone - the error comes and goes. MBUK agreed to contribute 50% towards the cost. Cost to me £312 fitted, being done on 9 May.

Funnily enough, I have had the same issue twice on my W218 both times after I had washed the car and cleaned the windscreen. After a while the error disappeared. I wondered if the residual left by the ‘cleaner’ is causing confusion to the camera. Or is the unit on the way out????!

Thanks for the update. Do you know the part number and cost of the part? I think this is a common issue with the Xenon lights.

job delayed to 23 May
Hope you get it sorted. It is so intermittent, it's is quite annoying but learning to live with it for the moment.
