Hi Guys,

I'm new to this forum and currently drive a E46 330ci. I have been looking recently at changing up to the CLK 55 on an 03/53 plate. Is there anything in particular i should know about these cars and could some kind soul let me know about the running costs on such a beast. I have averaged aorund 19mpg in the 330ci in 2 years of ownership. What sort of mpg does the 55 return, services costs, etc?

Any help or advise as to what options to look out for will me recieved with gratitue.

Thanks in advance for the advise guys.

What kind of driving do you do in the 330ci? Is it mainly urban to only get 19mpg? I had 2 M3s both of which returned over 19mpg, so I assume most of your driving is city driving. I have an SLK55 AMG, so same engine but less weight. My current average is 18.9mpg over 3200 miles but I have done about 600 miles on motorway. If it was purely urban driving it doesn't really get more than 16mpg if I'm lucky. In traffic I've seen it down at 13mpg and when flat out I've got it down to 10mpg.

Servicing will be at around 10k miles or every year and shouldn't be too expensive for the first service, maybe around £600ish, with the second service I assume being more expensive.

As for the kind of options you should look for, no lairy colours, Command is essential as is Parktronic, Lux Climate, Telephone and maybe Bose/Harman Kardon. Most stuff is standard anyway.

Hope that helps.

Hi Navin and welcome to the forum.
I have been the proud owner of a CLK55 W208 since oct 05.
I find that i average around 22mpg.
Really bad traffic I get around 19 on motorway runs aound 29mpg.
Surpisingly good figures actually!
Servicing costs are another matter. last service was just short of £1000.
This did include changing all the spark plugs mind you (16 of them).
the AMG has 2 special air filters (or so I was told).
Rear tyres are eaten on a regular basis if driven hard and the fronts tend to wear on the outer edge pretty quickly too.
Still worth it in my opinion esp when you start leaving M3s in your mirror :)
Mac.
