1 family owner 420SEC at Barons 102k miles

Don`t you think the price is a bit high?

Condition will drive price, and I think if the body is good straight and rust free, with full service history, you'll get your money back by not having to lash out on repairs.

May depend what you want to do with the car. Run the standard car or "pimp my ride" (meant of course in a good way..........)

The forum has seen some nasty rust on these (is it the rear window area?) where a repair and good spray job could cost a great deal. Having said that the colour is not my favourite and when I see SEC I see jay's car, or KLP etc - which take quite some investment of time and effort ................

The prices are just guides and Barons very frequently sell cars under guide.

Also don't forget the "buyers premium" - always comes as a bit of a shock, (con!)

Regardless of spec & condition what really works against this car is the fact that its only 420.

....... its only 420.

As someone who has a 2 500's, a 600 and a 420, believe me the 420 is in no way a slouch of an engine. I don't know the figures but it whisks you up to 80in pretty short order.

I dont doubt the performance of a 420SEC, but for a car as ostentatious as the W126 SEC the 420 was/is always less desirable than the 500 & 560.... & the early 380's are probably less desirable than than the 420's for the same reason...

And its this desirabilty that dictates prices.

Unlike the W126 SEC, with the R107 SL its a somewhat different story, many people swaer by & prefer the 300SL post 86 to any other as they tend to think it gives the car the best balance.... & therefore they command good money....
