Hi guys,

I have a 2000 Vito 108CDI which has been fine until today when it suddenly went into limp mode (wont rev over 3000 rpm as you know).

Couple of questions :

1. Can anyone recommend me a diagnostic garage near Chester?

2. Has anyone got any "quick fixes" that I can check before I go spending more money on this van.

Thanks in advance,

Neil

Check the vac pipe to the EGR valve to make sure it's all still attached.

Yep, its still attached.

Ive noticed that the tube that connects to the airbox was loose today, so Ive re connected that. I say Ive noticed it, but the local Merc specialist noticed it. He also commented that there is no Maf sensor on the piece of tube that was loose.

Is this where the sensor is supposed to be on a 2000 Vito 108 cdi?

The van was running great until a couple of days ago when it went into limp mode. Its fine when you start it until you go into 4th, and get to 3k revs.

Help, please.

Sounds like EGR valve failure as it has to see ** many cycles within a given operating period.

Had the Maf sensor replaced, still in limp mode.

Had it on a machine, and was told that he was getting no response from the fuel sensor. He suggested changing the fuel filter, though I had a service not long ago, and they said they changed the said filter, but it dosent look new.

Also went into another garage today, and he said a faulty EGR valve would show on the computer? Is that true?

Its driving me crazy now, as every garage tells me different things. The independant merc "specialist" said the Maf sensor was "missing" on my 108cdi, as he said it should be on the plastic tube, which is right next to the air box, but it turns out its somewhere else. Is that right?

When I bought the van I could hear a loud whooshing noise when I put my foot down, but now its gone, and the van is in limp mode.

Any ideas?

Would turbo pressure regulator failure cause this? I remember we used to do them quite often at the commercial dealer.

£68.50 + vat. Cheaper than a turbo
