Merc 190 Auto Petrol

Hi guys, As i started to say in my intro i have just bought a 190 petrol auto 1989 with only 72000 mls great condition throughout....got it for the wife to drive but she is not happy with the starting in the mornings. I know to action the choke you must press the accelerator down andit does start but chugs for about five mins untill it settles down and can be driven. The car was hardly used over the past couple of years so could it be it just needs a good service ??? I have also noticed itis very heavyon fuel i suppose this is normal for a heavy car and it not being injected......So any help or tips would be great.:)

Hi there,

Although I'm pretty familiar with W201s, I've never got involved with any of the non-fuel injected varients. But a fellow 190 owner on here (Stats007) has a similar car to yours and I understand he stripped and overhauled the carburettor.

I'll see if I can find a link to his thread as it may be useful for you :)
