I was wondering if you guys could help me out with some ideas about the value of a car I have been to look at. Its a 1988 190 2l diesel. it has service history and has done a incredibly low 40,000 miles. It will need some paintwork, there are a few blisters and the front wheel arches are rusty, however all only surface and the car is basically sound and needs no welding. MOT til next May.

How much is being asked?

The seller is asking for offers, was looking to get an idea of a fair price

Its very low mileage so could be worth good money but id say around £1K is fair if paintwork is required.

Test drive it first as you could very well find the lack of pace disappointing.

I got rid of mine and regret it, very ecomomical and comfortable..

Not much to worry about just check the strut tops from below..

What colour is it? does it have any unusual options? You can pick up a very tidy 190 for a few hundred quid so I'd not go mad.

That car will be painfully, dangerously slow.

I had a 190 D 2.5 for a few weeks & couldn't get on with it because it was so ridiculously slow on acceleration. It was all right on the fly & even pretty good on the motorway but stopping, starting & accelerating away made me hate it.

Difficult to believe the mileage is accurate. Most diesel buyers buy a diesel because they will be doing high miles.
