Is this as cloned? 190E. E871NOW

The seller James no surname remains dodgy. Yesterday he claimed to have booked it in for an MOT today (the ancient advert does say it has 12 months no advisories) but wouldn't say where it was booked in. Now today has come and he claims that the booking was cancelled first thing this morning by the garage (?!?!) and he has tried, but can't book another for today. No alternative proposed by him, and he knew 10 days ago that tomorrow is my only chance of a lift from Yeovil to Newmarket.
Something stinks. In the meantime a 1989 example has cropped up, very genuine sounding seller, nicer colour (to me) but I will have to fly to Edinburgh.....oh well!
What an odd seller. Used car market on its **** and this one makes zero effort. Bullet dodged? Quite possibly.

Noticed this w201 is still up for sale on AT, checked its MOT status and it now has an advisory free mot.

That's interesting, thanks. I wonder why he hasn't contacted me to say so then, seeing he knew I was all set to go and look at it a few weeks ago with the intention of buying. A very strange seller.
I have found another with a genuine seller who has owned it from new, full service history. First 8 years he ran it in Qatar. 1991 with proven 75k miles. Immaculate and UK spec, fairly basic options, no sunroof, wind up windows but factory air con, central locking. I have 1st refusal but can't have it until their new car arrives late February 2025! I will mull over this one again, but it's seller is so very weird!

Well, the mobile number he gave me a few weeks ago is no longer 'recognised' for either phone or WhatsApp. Tried phoning him through Auto Trader, busy. Will keep trying but not looking great so far

There’s a lot of warning signs here, why can’t you walk away?

I may have to. The car really suits me and finally has it's promised MOT which shows it exists. Another that suits nearly as well is almost £3k more and not available until late February. And, I can't work out what scam could possibly be happening. V5 apparently in his name. But why is it advertised for about 18 months, unsold? Must admit, if he eventually responds and provides a false address, my 5 1/2 hour train ride each way would be galling!

You’re listing more reasons to walk away and I suspect you know you should!

Thanks, yes I have come to the same reluctant conclusion! Reckon he has blocked my number on Auto Trader too, can't understand this but too much is too fishy

Just buy (wait for) the one owner low mileage car with factory a/c; you will wait a long time to find another one.

Tells you all you need to know. Forget it.
