Just had another look at the pics - i know the engine's warm, but shouldn't the oil pressure be higher than that at tickover?

Well, it could be that he doesn't know about resetting the hood after replacing the battery. Or he does, and he's just trying to hide the fact that the hood mechanism is screwed. Take your pick

Mine ticks over at about 1.5 when warm, however, not sure whether this would be the same for one of these?

Certainly possible on an agreed value policy.. My MR2 turbo with lots of modifications is about £160
