Hi All,
Regrettably, my W124 is up for sale as I'm having to take a company car. The car has undergone a lot of work in my ownership (far more than it's worth), which I will detail later on. For now, here's the quick and dirty version;

Right, so now a little more detail about the car and my ownership of it...I found the car on retrorides in March 2012, travelled down to Watford to collect it and parked it outside my Nans house whilst I brought it up to a standard which I'm happy with. I've kept a photo record of the work which I carried out to evidence the quality and that the correct processes were followed.
The car was as expected when I collected it; a tatty car, but fundamentally solid with excellent service history and in good mechanical order.
Firstly, I tackled some simple jobs; the rear parcel shelf had to be removed as someone had fitted parcel shelf-mounted speakers and I preferred a more standard approach. I removed the parcel shelf, fibreglassed over the holes which had been cut in and had the shelf re-trimmed. Some of the stereo speakers also decided to give up whilst I was driving home, so I sourced some OEM speakers and fitted these all round too. The original gear lever had been replaced with a snooker ball (I presume fitted by the same owner who butchered the parcel-shelf!), so again, this was replaced for OEM.
Happy with the interior, I turned my attention to the sunroof - which would tilt, but not slide. After some investigation, I found that the mechanism was, in fact, ok. I eventually found that the sun-roof seal had perished and shrunk slightly which was then fouling the sun roof. A new seal remedied this problem.
Lastly, I began working on the exterior of the car (the weather was slightly better by this point!). The car suffered from the usual issue of rusting arches along with some other defects such as lacquer-peel and stone-chips. I decided that both wings were beyond repair, so I replaced them with pattern wings; which, with a bit of work, are a really good fit. The inner wings were cleaned up and found to be completely rust-free, so I waxoyled the area and the inside of the new wings and fitted them up. As the car would be partially re-sprayed for the wings, I decided it would be best to sort out the rust on the leading edge of the bonnet and on the rear arches. None of this was bad enough to need new metal, so it was ground all the way back and treated properly before being sprayed.
Now happy with the appearance of the car, I got it serviced by a local garage and began using it. After a couple of months, I was so smitten with it that I sold my car and used this as my daily. I do a lot of miles, both business and personal, but it is no exaggeration that this car hasn't let me down once. It's never failed to start, never stopped at the side of the road and never failed to deliver me to my destination. The only part which has failed during my use is the catalytic converter which was replaced when it started rattling (at considerable cost!). When it was recently MOT'd, the tester found nothing wrong with the car and commented that it is in fantastic mechanical condition.
That said, the car is not without its' flaws (although these are very few for its age). The drivers seat has some wear on the bolster - it's not excessive and it's not really that noticable. I have been looking for a replacement seat, but they rarely seem to come up. Also, the sun-visor clips have cracked and need to be replaced - just one of those jobs I never got round to. Finally, there is a scratch on the back of the car (just below the rear-light on the strip above the bumper) which was caused by a bike-rack, shortly after the car was painted. It's not that noticable, probably about an inch long and could be touched up fine.
I've really enjoyed wafting around in this car in supreme comfort whilst still benefitting from the relatively modern engine which provides plenty of power and returns healthy MPG - around 35. I've ploughed a lot of money into this car, far more than I'm asking - my intention never was to turn a profit on this car, but I think it's above average condition justifies the asking price of £950.
If you have any further questions or would like to arrange to view the car, please give me a text or call 07584 254 794.
Thanks,
Ryan.
