1998 C250 TD sport (manual)
guys/gyals excuse me for being dumb i am new to this MB car i purchased.
But how/does my car have AC?? i inherited from a late family memeber so i cnt ask them and all other family are ford/vauxhall drivers..

is it just the case of switching it on cold using the dials and switching on the car symbol with a 3/4 circle inside meaning circulation inside the car:(  ?

Do you know for sure if the car has AC ?

you should have three buttons in the centre , one saying EC.

If you dont have this button or one with a snowflake ( aftermarket ACs ) you dont have AC.

To operate the AC turn temp dials to cold - turn fan to whatever desired speed and make sure the EC button's light is switched off ( EC stands for Economy mode ).

well it doesnt have AC or EC button so i suppose it doesn't :-(
damn i thought sport models have AC as standard oh well :(

Im afraid they didn't. Oh well. I saw 35.5 degrees on the outside air temp gauge on the M25 this evening, and was feeling great with my ice cold air on me...Dont mean to rub it in or anything.

nor does my sport model which i thought is one of the top spec models :(

There is no such thing as "top spec" when comparing trim levels on traditional mercedes models.

I have seen better spec classics than elegance/avantgarde on the W210 :)

Back in the good ol' days, *everything* was an option ;)

I think the 'sport' trim level is something of a joke name anyway, how can slightly lowered suspension and a bit of plastic faux carbon fibre trim be remotely sportly!?

I guess that means that your car is one of the last pre-facelift cars as both of my W202 Sports came with AC?

bizzare i like to know whats so special about a c250 td sport compared to a standard? other then lower suspension? does it have any other "go faster bits?"

well the classic is definitely the base model and the esprit has slightly more equipment than the classic but when it comes to elegance and sport I'd say they were different choices rather than different levels. I will say that generally cars without AC tend to be early classics, nearly all sport and elegance models have AC if only because people shelling out for the more expensive trim level are more likely to go for options.

My 98 C250 TD Elegance didn't come with AC as standard.

Neither does my '97 model, a bit silly considering it has leather seats, alloys, cruise and electric everything.

It's amazing that, 10 years ago, few people thought anybody needed a/c. I paid £500 for it as an option on a 1996 Mondeo and everyone thought I was mad to spend £500 on something that would only be used 'a few days a year'!

I daresay it was a little more expensive on a Merc, though. I think there was even a short period in the early 2000's when A/C was an option on Classic C Class's.

Well my 1997 Esprit has lower suspension, centre arm rest, rear head rests, spoilers, alloys, cruise and is fully colour coded all of which is factory..
