Hi , i have recently bought a e280 from my father inlaw and apart from a slight rust problem on wheel arches the only thing is the mot picked up that the nearside and offside front suspension arm rubber bushes have deteriorated but arent resulting in excessive movement , i didnt have the mot done so i havent asked the merc garage if this needs sorting or what it cost so i was wondering if anyone knew wether this is a seriouse problem and whats an average cost of repair many thanks in advance.:)

I take it you are talking about the lower suspension arm?

If you are there are two buhes on there. Camber and castor bush. The castor bushes always go. They slpit and can only be seen by levering the arm over.

If the camber bush is cracked and poor I suspect the castor bush to be completely knackered.

Needs to be inspected by someone who can judge or take some good pics of them and I can tell you if they need doing.

It is best to replace the whole arm if needed.

thank you for the reply i dont know much about the lower suspension arm but will investigate and see if i can understand it and get some pics to post i dont know much about cars but im sure i will enjoy learning about them , i have all the manuals that come with the mb so i will see if it gives a diagram so i know exactly what to look for
