ok lets take an this e320 for example, say if it had all the rust accounted for, new loom, new CHG, bushes, sub frame mounts etc done.

how much you rekon its worth less 60k on the clock?

Our 124 was middle of the road in terms of price and yes there was a receipt for a new wiring loom from MB dealer. Unfortunately the dodgy loom had fried the ECU. For a few months it ran perfectly. On a brighter note we had bought an aftermarket warranty which coughed up £1000 towards the ECU and later on paid for the so cant complain too much. The other items were done to get it as good as possible but were by no means essential. Having done all this I would certainly not consider selling it on but I would hope that if did want to the work done would count in its favour. Its now my daily driver until it goes back down to Italy in a few weeks. I guess my other point is that no matter how careful you are it is still a lottery buying cars of this age.
