CL500
Hi all,
I'm new to the club as I've just purchased my first merc (cl500) I need to replace my exhaust as one of the cats have come away inside and rattles like mad. The front pipes aren't a problem to get, but its the rear sections I'm struggling with. They have corroded quite badly and the hanger has already been welded before. Is there anyone that knows where I can get them or maybe from another model that may fit?
Thank you

Are you certain it is not a heat shield that has corroded around the mounting holes ?

Yes mate, 100%. I've been under it to have a look, all the shields are good. I gently hit the exhaust in several places and the cat was rattling inside. All the flanges and bolts are seriously corroded too, that's why I think it's going to be easier to replace the whole lot. I think I read somewhere amg boxes may fit?

If its one of the secondary cats, just get them opened up, gut out the inside and reweld them. Done from the top, nobody would know and the emissions are unaffected.
A decent exhaust fabricator could do it. Far cheaper than a new exhaust.

That's what I was going to do at first but would still need to take the exhaust off. The clamps etc are seriously rusty, and so are the rear boxes on the seem and the hangers have been welded badly before
