2005 W203 Replacing cigarette socket

Having removed the centre consul ashtray from the car, I've search on YouTube and on this forum for the how to remove the cigarette/auxiliary 12V socket from the unit.

I've also noted the small light bulb in a small brown holder needs replacing. How to get to the bulb? Followed by where to obtain a replacement?

I've drawn a blank, so thought I'd see if there might be some advise or words of wisdom.

I'm feeling like I want to say the whole bulb holder pulls out, and then it's a little push wedge light bulb in the holder?

It's been a good few years since I stripped a lot of the dash to get to the stepper motor in my now gone w203. But I remember when I got to the bulb, I realised how easy it was to change and wished I'd known how earlier. Sorry I can't be more help.

Does this picture help? As MrGreedy says, it's a wedge base bulb. The wattage is probably printed on the glass. Halfords should have them.

Yes.. sort of and watched the YouTube video recently; problem is there's no commentary, so makes it hard to work out what and how to do. In the meantime, I've arranged to buy a replacement unit from a breakers yard and awaiting for it to turn up

Does the whole bulb holder twist out like household light bulb?
