2011 Merc CLS Comand Update

Hi all

I’m a new member, having just purchased a 2011 Merc CLS 350 CDi

I’ve just come from a 2017 Alfa Giulia Veloce Lease car that was rear-ended and written off
It’s a long story, but suffice to say I’ve ended up buying the Merc instead of going the lease route again. The Merc’s a very different, but very pleasant, beast !

The comand system in a 2011 Merc is not going to be comparable to the new systems, it does anyone know if it can be updated with new features? I’m not 100% sure on the version I have but I do have Bluetooth music streaming and I have a PCMCIA card slot . The car didn’t come with any DVD’s so not sure how to update maps either.

Also, I was surprised that there doesn’t appear to be any speed camera alerts on the Nav system - is this something that’s available with a comand update?

Welcome to the Forum.

Your COMAND system has the maps on a hard drive and needs connecting to a Mercedes computer system (dealer or independent with access) to download the map updates.

Do you have a good and experienced MB specialist near to you for service / repair? I can recommend someone although they are probably 20 miles away but worth knowing.

There is a good indy (Startech) a couple of miles away from the Poole main dealer on the Creekmore Industrial Estate beside Makro. I have used them on a couple of occasions and they are fine. Much better labour rates than MB Poole and they use OEM parts and update your service records.

The owner Pete is an ex time served MB specialist with Star who is happy to take time to talk you through things and he has very high standards, you seem to have other recommendations closer to home but if needed I would happily (and have) use Headlands.
