2014 CLA - DPF and Running Temp

Latest update is that they think the fan is faulty as the car has started, but never completed a regeneration for quite a few cycles. Anyone experienced this, can confirm or explain further? I know many components get very hot during the regeneration but is the fan linked to a safety cut off I.E in my case the car sees the fan is innop so as a precaution suspends the regeneration as it wont have the correct cooling ?
No sure for curtain, but it would make some sense, as pumping loads of diesel into the engine with the aim of making the exhaust gas hotter must surely make the engine hotter too.

So, another update. The suspected faulty fan has apparently recently been replaced on the car by Mercedes. A regen was forced before and after readings on the soot levels went from 75% down to 3%. I've had the car almost a week since this, just hit 700 miles and so far so good. I guess it will take a while yet to fully know if things are as they should be. Is there an App I can get form my mobile that would measure the soot levels? I already have a wifi OBD2 dongle to hook it up.

...does MB-specific systems and has a live parameters feature, but since my car is petrol I can't tell if it can read the DPF info - you could try dropping them an email.
