2017 E Class Car Ramp suggestions

Hi all, I'm going to attempt to clean the NOX sensors after paying over £700 for one to be changed a few weeks ago and now the EML has lit up again so I suspect it will be the other one. I've watched some videos and it looks very straightforward involving unscrewing the sensor and soaking it in cleaner and then screwing it back in. Seems to make sense anyway.

The area I will be jacking it up is cobble stones and not very even. I've had my wifes sons car nearly fall off of the OEM jack so I definitely do not want to risk my e class falling off. So I'm thinking of using ramps rather than jacks. I will still put axle stands under once it's on the ramps but I figure using ramps will be safer on the ground I will be working on.

So my question is does anyone have any recommendations as to what ramps to buy? I used to have an old pair my dad used but they fouled on the front bumper so I they need to be a shallower initial bit.

TIA

I wouldn't even consider trying this on a cobbled surface.

They are generally low grip and, as you have found, uneven. I can see the ramps moving and not being that stable as you move on and off.

Have you a garage with a flat solid floor you could use?

Thanks. I was thinking of doing the usual trick with ramps and tying a strop to them and laying it out so the car runs over it to secure them in place with the weight of the car. I have a god size garage but it's currently a dumping ground which is another topic. It used to have our previous car in but since then not a chance. That said I have a plan to have a clear out soon so that could be another reason for doing that.
I've seen a neighbour using ramps on the same surface and he was fine. He moved away a while back so not around to ask what he used though.

How much height are you hoping to achieve with ramps? I have an old set of the fairly common metal ramps and also a set of 'ramp extenders', which fit onto one of the lower 'crossbars', reducing the approach angle, allowing me to put a TVR, with a very limited approach angle, on them.

I've also made a set of wooden ramps, from sleeper-type wood, which allows an easy approach and gradually lifting the wheel up in 2 easy steps. One advantage is that they're each one solid piece on the ground, however, they aren't as high as the metal rampsl

I know motorhomers who use a newer type of plastic ramp, though again, they're not that high.

High enough to get to the NOX sensor which I understand is in the middle of the exhaust. It's one thing after another at the moment too as I just went out with the icarsoft MB11 to see if it threw any errors and the unit is saying there's an error with the license file so I need to sort that out too.

I regularly use ramps on my E , mine came from Halfords a few years ago , if you lack clearance I just put a piece of 6x2 wood a couple of feet long in front of it .
I have glued strips of rubber from an old car mat onto the bottom metal of the ramps to stop or help them not to slip .
I also strop them by using a long strap which I drive over to stop them flying away .
Maybe a slight sprinkle of sand would help with traction??

Whilst you’re under there, give the AdBlue injector and its seat a clean, as they do block, like in the pictures below. IMG_3138.jpegIMG_3140.jpeg

That IS blocked!!
