I was driving home tonight, when my car went over a hole in the road surface, with a bit of a bang. Drove onto my estate, which has a lot of speed bumps, and suddenly noticed a noise coming from the front suspension when going over these at probably around 5 mph. Then, turned corner and could hear a scraping noise. Pulled up onto my drive, got out to have a look, and could see that the front of the car is now lower on the passenger side.

Clearly some aspect of the passenger side front suspension has collapsed. Any idea what this is likely to be? I know that 210s are prone to the anti- rollbars going, and on bad examples the suspension struts corrode, but I was not aware of any suspension issues with the 211.

It'll be a broken spring. Just as common on the 211 as the 210.

yep, almost certainly a spring has given up and died. How many miles has it done out of interest?

Thanks for the replies. Took it to my local indie today, and it is indeed a broken coil spring. They said they have seen this happen a few times. The car has done about 60k.

Any idea what this will cost? I did not get a quote, because I was just happy that they could take it straight away and give me a courtesy car.

About £200 in total for 2 springs.
