220 Diesel my'06 on

can anyone tell me the "improvements" made to this engine from 2006 and did they start with the model year or later, is there a "new" engine code?

The 150hp engine has fuel injection equipment from Bosch, 170hp is from Delphi. (So rail, injectors, pump and ECU are different)

Then, the turbo is new, with 815 deg operating capability instead of 780deg. The intercooler is taken from the V6 Diesels, so is not the same. The bearings have been uprated to allow 160bar peak pressure instead of 150bar. The cooling system is new and the piston bowls have been optimised for the new injectors.

The new engine is called OM646 "Evo". This engine is only available with the facelift

thanks for that, is this available in the '06 on sport coupe, or just the current C class and forthcoming coupe?
