A colleague is looking at SLKs but wondered why MB dropped the 230K engine - anyone shed any light on it?

I didn't have a clue why but thought if there's one place I can find out....

Thanks

Sean

In 2004/5 they changed the 3 different engines that were the 180, 200 and 230 into a single engine (for the C class 203) and used the same base lump (1.8l 4 pot) and just increased the tune and HP for the 180, 200 and 230. I had one of the first 1.8 C230 Kompressors, and it was pretty good (considering).

Progress....the 230 engine had been around for quite some time, firstly in 220 guise and then 230 non kompressor, then along came the 230K.

New generation of kompressor engines were more refined and used less juice.

230K is a very strong engine.....infact at the time MB engineers thought it was the strongest 4 cylinder engine MB had ever made and they are certainly capable of covering huge mileages with ease.
