29K Miles - Is This Normal (Engine Dirt)

My engine bay is spotless at 27k miles..... Id steer well clear of those places. Very unethical practices.

i can't see the link to the car in question - but I guess it isn't the 29k miles that makes it dirty but rather the fact that it's a 2005 year car and probably hasn't been cleaned under the bonnet - regardless of the mileage it has still seen 5 winters etc...

the other way of looking at it is maybe all cars look like that, but good dealers have them steam cleaned before we see them!

I always try to keep the underbonnet clean though, but thats just cos I am obsessive like that..

I would be more suspicious of a 5 year old car with a freshly cleaned and all shiney shiney engine compartment.

If it just shows a few years of honest road grime and no oily leaks all it might prove is that it never passed through the mind of the owner to clean it.

A few sad people who do not understand the absolute joy of a gleaming engine do exist you know. (Mrs S. is one of them: she thinks I am utterly bonkers to give the engine comparment even a modest clean each time I wash the car.)

Lot of salt off the roads in the winter and dust etc would stick to the engine. Specially if you do a lot of motorway driving.

Its not even that dirty just dust by the looks of it, not a hard job to fettle it and have it back gleaming.

Also nothing wrong with Fords of Winsford they have a very good reputation

Thanks guys, Car now Reserved anyway, I was just browsin and thought it seemed a bit dirty for 29k mile car especially from a dealer.

This is pretty normal and a quick steam clean will sort it - nothing to worry about!
