30yr rust warranty?

Is it true that MB extended the rust warranty in Europe to 30 yrs, due to their stupidity of not galvanizing cars from 99-03?

At present my car is maintained privately(it's covered 220k miles!).A small ammount of rust has developed around the catch that operates the rear tailgate,and at the bottom corner of one of the rear doors.Can I assume that the 30 year rust warranty only applies if the car has a full MB service history?

MB Canada has agreed to look at my car to goodwill the rust and advised me to take it into the dealer. The Service Manager acknowledged that many of the early C-class are rotting out and being treated and repainted, the rust on my car is not uncommon.

Hopefully I'll be able to throw in a few $$$ and have the entire car resprayed.

Beware of the "New" 8 Year paint warranty !

I have a 2000, E240 v6 it has done 107,000miles and now has developed rust in all the usual places = wheel arches, rear door, door frames etc, I contacted Green Oaks Mercedes in Slough they sent a chap round to look at it, he took pics of the car and rusts spots plus mileage, service history ( full ) and log book. He submitted his report to MB in Milton Keynes and guess what ?? it was rejected because my car was 10 days out side its 8 year paint warranty !! there was no mention of the body warranty at all. I have now written a letter to the the service manager asking the they revisit my case, I have driven mercs for the last 20 years and own three of them !! and never have I heard such nonsense before.
So beware they are now refusing claims based on the "paint" warranty and they no longer make any mention of the "30 year body warranty", I assume that this means that my body warranty is still valid and when my car finally falls apart they shall fix it ??. Watch this space ...............

The 30 year thing relates to rusting through from the inside out.

The corrosion that many modern MBs suffer is surface rust on the outside. This is either covered by the paintwork warranty or as a goodwill gesture.

Edit: The 8 year paintwork thing isn't new - it's just that owner notice and remember the 30 year thing - probably because MB push it more.

Officially there is no eight year warranty, nor is there a 30 year one either. mobilo-life is a Guarentee, not a Warrantee.

It Guarentees your car will rust and MB will give you loads of hassle over repairing it...
