2-3 days ago my car start making strange noise. Engine runs fine and there is no problems with performance. There are no codes. I check turbo and it spools freely and without any problems as well there is no oil or other signs of possible problems but...

...here is what I have. Everytime I acceletate harder, basicly when it get boost it whistle. More boost equals louder noise. All only under load. It doesnt sound as bearing noise almost as old water kettle or referee whistle. When I tried to reproduce sound when I opened bonnet I was able to make is only at really high revs. Noise was coming from N/S maybe a little front of engine. Kinda hard to figure out where is that coming from :wallbash:.

I should add where was a "slight" remap done to ECU.

Have you checked the basics? Make sure hose clips are tight, no obvious holes in the pipe between turbo and intercooler/intercooler to intake, check that intercooler doesnt have a hole in it either.

What's the mileage? Possible early sign that the turbo is on the way out but from what I know, it's unlikely.

Is the car going into limp mode? If you've had a re-map, possibility of over/under boost.

You'd have to get the car on STAR to check for any codes.

sounds like a boost leak, get a gauge connected with a t joint on one of the vacume lines and check boost when noise starts.

Yesterday I decicded to check entire intake system. It took me some time and I couldnt find anything wrong. But when I check O/S bottom hose I noticed somthing that lookked strange to me. Bottom of cast pipe where rubber hose goes in had small piece missing. It was hard to notice at first but when I cleaned it really well I noticed broken part that holds clip.

I need to replace pipe (£117 incl VAT) or find a clamp that would hold then tight close togheter. Regular jublle clip wont do so I need something that would hold both (pipe and hose) tight enough.

Anyone has ideas for that?

Can you take a pic?

I will when I get to fix it, then I will post it. I found a clamp that might do this job. I will try on saturday.

Well... Im really ashamed to say what was the fault... :wallbash::o:o:doh:

Month ago I did EGR and chamber and when I put this back I was affraid to over-torque 3 bolts holding chamber to manifold. It created gap I didnt noticed but someone else did... tighned them back as should be and no more noise... :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

Easy mistake to do and I bet quite a few of us here have done something similar in the past. Well done for fessing up though :thumb:
