3rd gear Automatic

I have noticed the change from 2nd to 3rd on my Auto box is a bit of a jolt when the car is cold, when it warms up it smooths out again. Is this a sign of future trouble ? thank you. P.S. car is 64 plate C class diesel auto W205.

Not to my knowledge, I have had the car almost 5 yrs. and I have not done anything to the box.

Most autos jerk a little when cold.
It may need a service/oil change.

They do have a reputation for being a little clunky when cold.

Yours is, I think the 7g+.

I have the 7g version in mine
There was a software update aimed at improving the gear change when the transmission is cold. Mine exhibits this once the temperature falls below 10deg C.

Have you any history of the transmission fluid and filter being changed?

I believe the fluid is also a different specificstion between the 7g and the
7g+
