I remember getting a quote from Birds to have this installed on mine, I seem to recall a figure of around £12k. Needless to say I didn't bother......
I thought it was more like half that, still pretty expensive.

Me too but have a question (as I know nothing about ICE)...why do high end installs result in boxes and various other packaging including subs. For music in the home big boxes (and subs in particular) are rarely the way to go unless you have a big room where the sound will get lost, cars are quite small by comparison...I'm probably missing something?

You can not get quality low down depth from standard car speakers. Think of the housing of some floor standing home speakers.

Think of a speaker wedged into the door. Not exactly ideal for sound reproduction. Hence the need for the sub so the rest can concentrate on the mid and treble. A brief summary.

You would. ;)

if you have a V8, you don't need ICE ;)

I'll join in with the Alfie bashing regards the ICE, the wheels are also very nice IMO. I wanted those Carlsson's for a while (MikeC200 in NL has them too) but I ended up with my AMGs.

I still put my windows down and turn the stereo off when I go through tunnels or am passing a big wall.
Something that will never wear off :bannana: :bannana:

Agreed!

The Kleemann S/C is £12k + VAT to install, the HKS much less but comes from the US - though they are setting up a franchise over here I believe.

I thought i was the only one that done that! ;)

Alfie, I agree 100 %with Shaun and KLP, that install looks well done, and loud music does not = Chav!?!?!

I have a very high end setup in my car, Graham and Mambo have both heard it, I spent the money for the same reason you would buy high end home equiptment, I like my music! and 2ndly I like it loud and clear! In addition, I have all the AV stuff. Why you may ask... well if you spent more time in your car than at home, you would too! (not that I do anymore).

A bit drastic calling all of us Chav?!?! Just because we like music!

agree with you on the grill tho! UGLY

EDIT : almost a whole page of replies whilst I was typing!

Loud music in a car is very chav! I love music but dont feel the need to impart my musical tastes on everyone I drive past!

stats007 -
you forget we drive mercedes - music does not leak out like escorts\novas!

hence they make very good cars for pro/high-end installations.

if only those with very loud thumping stereos shared your view!

Can I ask one question. I would like to know how many people calling us CHAV's have been in a car with a high end sound system. Or is it you have just heard thump thump thump only to turn round or wait till at passes and shake your head as a Corsa with a 6" bore passes you by.

I would like to see you go on www.talkaudio.co.uk and call the sq and spl boys CHAVS ;)

I appreciate the workmanship that goes into a HQ install, and have been to a few Sound Challenges in my youth (all good fun) !! :D have seen a transit van with 25k blow its windscreen out ( a party piece )

I like my music loud whilst on the move, but always , always turn it down when crawling in traffic or sitting at lights, there is nothing that makes me cringe more than a stationary car, rattling the shop windows and making everyone look at them and think 'T***er' ......

When i have people in my car, and we stop i always turn it down and get asked, 'why are you turning it down ?' ..... Just because, just because........

Loud on the move ...... Quiet when stopped ....... repeat after me ..... ;)

Similar views loud when moving though not always occasionally the engine gets to sing. :D

Dont always turn it down in traffic couldn't give a     what people think, my car my music. Always turn it down when going to my house, In / out of the work car park. Going to my mums house something like that. In town I really dont care.

Howard, if you have people in the car it should be down anyway. Thats rather antisocial dont you think ;)
