My c200 displayed a red 48v notice and advised that the car be stopped and I refer to the manual. Once I parked safely the car wouldn't start anymore and even the AA couldn't sort out the problem hence car had to be recovered after a 6 hr wait. As anyone heard of this kind of problem ?IMG_20231105_164105.jpg

I guess your car is a facelift (2018 onward) C200, which is a 'mild hybrid'. Looks like there's a problem with the drive battery - is the car under warranty?

Strange - were you actually stranded?

Who "advised that the car be stopped"?

The reason for asking is that Amber warnings usually mean that the car can be driven but taken to a workshop at the earliest opportunity - it's the red warning that are meant to tell you that the car shouldn't be driven any further.

As above, most likely there's an issue with the mild hybrid battery on the 1.5L EQ engine.

Where's the car now - at the dealer? Also, you say you called out the AA - is the car not covered by Mercedes Benz Mobilo roadside assistance? They will usually have MB STAR diagnostic computer and can diagnose issues ar the roadside.

Yes it's a 2019; no it's not under warranty

The message on the main screen was red advising an immediate stop and later indicated that the whole command center would shut down in 3 min and did. The car was moving but not accelerating. I was just lucky to have reached residential street location shortly after

I didn't have mercedes Benz cover. As it was Sunday car was initially recovered to my son's house as he lives close to a MB service dealership. It will be recovered to MB today

Please let us know how you get on .

Best of luck. :thumb:

Mobilo roadside assistance is automatic with each dealer service and is valid for up to 12 months after the last service date. I take it that the car wasn't serviced by a dealer in the last 12 months?

Good luck with getting it sorted - as above do keep us posted. I don't think I've heard of this problem on a facelift C200 before ... the C350e has had some issues with the drive battery, but generally when older.

How long have you had the car, and where did you get it from?

Thanks for that update

The car was serviced (2 months ago) but not with a dealer; I know better now

There are pros and cons to dealer servicing, see also:

But let's talk again after the car has been fixed...

Had car from 14 months bought from a Hyundai dealership where I believe it was PEx

OK. Out of interest what sort of mileage has it done? I also have a 2019 petrol C Class btw, although not a hybrid.

Wow. Hope you get it sorted quickly and it's not too expensive. Could be the battery itself is OK and it's just a rogue module/sensor somewhere - the dealer diagnostics should hopefully get to the bottom of it.

Wonder if it’s related to the starter/alternator? On your car you have a 48v starter that also charges the battery, belt driven.

Don’t see many threads on here with 48v issues that I can recall. Fingers crossed it’s nothing major!

Is there a separate 12V battery on these (pretty sure full BEVs still have one)?

If there is and it's OK then that would probably rule out a general charging issue.

I don't remember seeing any. And there will be a lot of facelift C200s out there.
