48v battery breakdown

Howdy all? Here's an update
Car still at MB garage; got a tentative bill in excess of £2000 for battery and diagnostics ( i don't understand the need for D as my display clearly states the problem is 48V... there U go). However was told of the possibility battery fee might be paid by MB once they are able to confirm my mileage. I know this might just be sales talk to make me request they start the job. Battery will take 7 or more days to arrive from Germany

Just wondered how you got on with this - what was the final outcome or is it still awaiting parts? :)

Whilst waiting for battery they found drive shaft wear... Yep £300
.
.
Car didn't work with new battery so they had to wait for Germany to advise them (?) then the problem became the alternator yes over £1500
.
Finally got car back last Friday in exchange for nearly £4000

Did you suggest that they put the original battery back if that wasn't the problem? That would have saved £2k.
And no goodwill for a 32k mile 4 yr old car

Wonder if it’s related to the starter/alternator? On your car you have a 48v starter that also charges the battery, belt driven.

Don’t see many threads on here with 48v issues that I can recall. Fingers crossed it’s nothing major!

I did suggest the starter/alternator at the beginning :)

Pleased to hear that you’ve finally got it sorted although I’d not be happy about them changing the battery if it wasn’t faulty, that’s a huge chunk of cash for a mis-diagnosis!
