500 SL miss fire?

intrested in a 500 sl ,but told it has a rescent engine problem ,its described as mis fire,
their no gasket / head problem, no oil in water ect, compression o.k?
anyone got idea,s?thanks

What type of 500SL is it....R107 built upto 1989 or a R129 from 1989 onwards....both can suffer from distributor cap issues, especially the early R129 500SL's...very common problem especially if the car is used infrequently.

On a 93 plate it should be a R129 chassis. R230 is post 2001 (or thereabouts).

Definately and R129. As above, take the dizzy caps off and check for moisture/cracking etc.
