As some oif you know, I have been waiting to get hold of repair panels for the rear wings on my coupe, only to find out now that they are not available. This means changing the rear quaters as well as the front wings.

Wide Body CE?

It would look the biz, and im told the rear wings are the same on a coupe as a saloon, except for the level of the rear clusters, the rust is well below this so i can cut below my lights.

Drawbacks (please add if I have missed anything out),

Modifying the front and rear bumpers, what level of modification would be required?
Side skirts?
MB used rubber inserts behing the arches, so i would hope i can get hold of those.

My main concern is regarding the kit, i could use 500e bumpers, but i like the look of the kit i have on mine.

I reckon you could simply adjust the rear bumpers out a few mms using the brackets that I'm sure are mounted just behind the bumper for alignment. You could even have the arches slightly flattened as they meet the bumper so it matches, if required.

500E arches

Will the 500E arches cover those tyres? If so then 500E front wings may be the answer. The rear quarters will be a challenge, though

As there isn't a set of factory wings to solve the problem you might want to consider having the existing arches modified to the profile you want. Even with new wings you won't end up with "new" coupe arches so why not modify what's there? Racers do this all the time

I can think of one person who might tackle this. There are probably quite a few in the UK but you'll want to find someone you can trust who can do the work at a price you can live with

Ok that only looks slightly good ;)

It is true that an old-school bodyshop or coachbuilder could modify some standard arches to look like that, in fact I think the arches in that pic are wider than the 500E. If you're going to go to the trouble of having some custom arches you might as well make them a little more prominent! :)

You notice the bumpers are just fitted a little wider at the arches? :)

The coupe looks good

Its looks to have:

AMG front bumper
500E front + rear arches
probably rear 500E bumper
500E headlights
Body skirts
+alot more lol

Just fitting the 500E arches will look weird if you dont fit the 500E front bumper aswell, or a wide AMG/any other. Also it'll look cool to have big wheels to fill those wide arches :D

Checkout all those 500E's in the background....Probably a couple E500 Limiteds and some E60 AMGs too!!

Ive got a AMG kit on mine, its just a case of getting the bumpers around the arches. If you look closely, it looks like the corner of the front bunper is almost flush, so it may be that in place of bending them, they arejust ground down to fit?

As for wheels,

I think the 500e arches are probably the easiest way to do this, I love the look! :D
I dont think the front bumper is modified at all, just the inner shaven off half an inch or so, to get it to accomodate the arch.

The edge of the bumper where it meets the arch should be adjustable by about an inch, if it's not then a bracket could be made to allow this, they are quite flexible at the arch end.

I think it was a crime that no 500E/E500 coupé was factory made. Why didn't the coupé ever get a v8 from the factory? The coupé was so obviously designed for the USA market, where the musclecar V8 coupé is big business so howcome the best you could do was a 320 i6?

I did see a few photo's on a US forum with a 3.8 litre Hammer, not sure if the coupe ever had a V8?

Ive had a bit of a mess about with the front bumper and i can pull it out half an inch without undoing any ot the brackets, so im going to go for it :bannana:
