would a 500E front bumper fit a standard W124? i.e. are the mounting points the same?

Thanks

Front bumper is wider at the ends because of the arches mate.

is it just the fact that the ends are wider which wont make it fit? or is it other things too?

Havent got a clue mate, i imagine it would be the same thought as im sure you can bolt on the OEM 500e wings and bumper onto a standard W124.

500E fixing points identical to stock fixing points.
Difference in bumper is the flared out end as seen below.
Never tried it, but you may be able to pull it in and if necessary with a few relief cuts.

In fact on my widebody build we will do the reverse.
Relief cut a GENI front bumper to match the wing flare !

Ed... thanks for that information! Its really re-assuring that the fixing points are the same!

Jay... well why would you fit a whole AMG conversion kit to a normal SEC? :) Its because I love the 500e foglamps at the bottom and it still moreless keeps the stock'ish W124 lines.

I would go for the AMG gen II kit that Aka$h is selling, its complete as well and you wont need to do any body mods. just my 2 cents. plus it comes with nice fog lamps just like in your avatar.

I know but all im after is the addition of foglamps for now and something slightly different from the usual AMG look.

hmm seems a lot of work for fog lamps.. there must be other bumpers out there that will achieve the look you want?
500E bumpers arent gonna be easy to find either.

Originally I was going to buy a whole AMG Gen II kit and front bumper with the fog lamps, this would have been easy and a direct replacement job from the stock bumper. After looking at lot of pictures of other W124s with the same kit and look, I found myself more liking the 500E front bumper than the AMG one. So if I did get an AMG one, I wouldn't be as happy as I would be with a 500E one.

I had a look at other bumpers, such as Lorinser, the AMG Gen I bumper, Carlsson, Carat Duchatalet and a few others and even came across a picture somewhere of a guy from Germany who made some cut outs in the original bumper and fixed in some Bosch fog lamps...it just looked odd. Out of all those bumpers, non of them had the clean look as the 500E one.

I know its going to be a bit hard putting it on and facing whatever suprises that may pop up, but thats the whole point of modifying right?

I wish the standard W124s came with fog lamps, it would have completed the look in my opinion as without them...it looks as if something is missing. Anyway, I'll get some pics put up once its done :)

Hope it's worth the effort, keep us informed on how it's coming along especially on locating the 500e parts front.

will do! :)

A great result for mercedes (brawn and mclaren) today!
