507 Coupe Dash Squeak

Hi all..... 1st post, go easy on me! On Tuesday I pick up a late 2014 AMG 507 coupe, my first Mercedes

The car is almost factory fresh, well spec'd, low mileage and has clearly been well cared for. One issue I noticed on the test drive was a persistent squeak coming from the dash - either from the centre console main surround, or the horizontal piano black trim between the main console & the COMAND display, it's hard to tell.

I'd already read that the C-Class can generally suffer such issues and as the car is otherwise perfect, I decided to go ahead with the deal. As the car has a few more weeks of warranty left, I've asked the private seller to try to gt his local dealer to fix it FOC, before I take posession. Fingers crossed he can, otherwise I'll need to look into it. Now the question......

In the experience of this group, should I need to, how am I best to approach this with my local dealer to get sorted under warranty? (Im 100 miles from the seller, so different dealers). Is there a good success in getting these interior squeaks sorted FOC or not? Or alternatively, is there an easy process & guide for resolving these issues myself?

Congratulations on the purchase, lovely motor! I hope you are taking out warranty for peace of mind considering its a private purchase. In terms of warranty works with local dealers they can be a pain, will ask you to agree to proceed with the works at £75 cost if found that it isnt covered under warranty and they will not proceed without agreement first hand. I've had a few arguments with dealers.

1 regarding my dab not working, repaired under warranty. 2nd sunroof stopped working- diagnosed as worn cables not covered under warranty... but faulty motor is and they wouldnt cover labour costs for repairing faulty cable.

Enjoy your purchase you will not hear the squeaks with the noise of the engine- secondary decat, reso delete and eurocharged/msl map and its all good

Thanks Tony for the reply..... the car still has a bit of warranty, hence my question on how dealers react to making a claim for interor squeaks, especially as it seems this is a bit of a Merc weak point. I will be asking Merc about an extension too.

Interesting to hear they can ask for some money upfront! I'll bear that in mind if I need to get this sorted.... hopefully it'll be done before pickup.

I'm not sure on modifying it. As a 507, I think it's desirability will be in maintining it's originality. You never know though

I had a squeak on top of the Comand screen fixed under warranty yesterday. Must be a fairly common problem as there were printed instructions from Star explaining how to fix it.

Afraid I didn't get the reference number from the dealers. Involves removing dash and Comand screen, tightening some screws and wrapping some felt around the Comand unit.
