Mentions this on a VIN inspection for a W124 300E-24v. Anybody know what it is?

I believe it's an in-line adaptor to allow your radio to tune to short wave. Would that fit with your audio system?

Dunno. Why would someone want that?

It seems a pretty crap system in there at the moment. From memory it is a JVC and the front panel drops down to reveal the cassette behind it. Would this have been the original equipment do you think or were they optional?

Code 524 is paintcoat preservation

Don't think JVC was original fitment. Blaupunkt sounds more likely.

Steve the radio fitted to your car is :-

a) Knackered :D
b) An aftermarket model.

I would strongly recommend changing it some time in the future. Would be nice to see an original radio fitted.

I think I have the original Blaupunkt that came out of my old 300E-24. Yours if you want it (and if I can find it).

Done but need to speak to Steve.

I found the old radio in the garage. It's a Blaupunkt Cambridge radio/cassette.
I also have the owners manual with a four digit number written on it which I hope is the code. If Gollom wants it I can give it to Ian at the Torquay meet.
One less thing cluttering up the place...

That would be fantastic! Just have to persuade the Light-Of-My-Life now! Do I owe you anything? If not, what is your favourite genre of charity - will drop some dosh in next time I see a collecting box.

No charge. It would only have gone in the bin when I eventually got round to tidying up.
