600

So when I get voted in as PM, I'll be binning the Jag and getting this. :D

Derek Mowat has one for sale in Edinburgh for £130K- AND--- its RHD!*
Used Mercedes-benz 600 Saloon in Edinburgh, City Of Edinburgh | Derek C Mowat

I was reading the Club Gazette on the Khazi the other day and found numerous adverts for Benzes from specialist dealers where they had simply invented the colour names rather than look them up (they are specialists after all). The above is described as cobalt blue when in fact it is Magnetite. This may be regarded as pedantry, but if they want £130 large for it, they could at least bother to do some small amount of work to get the colour name right.

I gather he's more of a Roller/Bentley man but that's no excuse. Its been for sale for quite some time.

Ahhhh Der Grosser!

I think bullet proof glass and armour plating were factory options :D

The only real down side is finding a parking space big enough

It's got fewer seats though.
Presumably the extra seats in the ebay one were required for his wives- Emperor Bokassa, ruler of the Central African Republic that is.- he had 17 !
Among the charges at his trial was one of anthropophagy or cannibalism

Just got at look at this car yesterday it is big.

I think the MB Club model register captain for the 600 has two of them. One was at this year's concourse - a superb example.

Really gorgeous colour. And I agree the characters selling them ought to care a wee bit more. Anyway, Peter Fonda has a 6.9 in the same shade which he once described thus:

"I bought the 6.9 because I knew it was the last year they going to build the hot one, 1977-79. I bought one that was built in March 12th of 1978. Its magnetite blue. It’s incredible. They rang up and said ‘We’ve found one for you Mr Fonda’
‘What colour is it?’
‘Blue’
‘I don’t want a blue Mercedes’
‘Well come down and have a look the Germans say it’s their best paint’
‘Well I went down and saw the car and it blew my mind. I said: ‘right chrome those wheels, do this, do that but don’t touch the paint!”
‘So they prepped the car but they blew the paint because they put a power polisher on it and it heated up and it pulled the paint on the hood. I was their buying it for cash at this Mercedes dealership in California, Hermosa Beach; there was a German Mercedes rep there and he said ‘Zis is the Daimler-Benz finest paint.’ It was so deep when you looked down the side it was almost purple. Incredible paint! So I bought the car. I still have it today and its still great paint."

If he'd only allowed Best Offer, at least we could all have had a bit of a dream!
