9 g auto transmission warranty question

Yes, I spoke to the indie, who carried out the last 2 services ( 4&5 ). He advised that the customer would have been made aware of the due transmission service, but as a substantial additional cost, chose not to have it done, and as ive found out, they traded the car in at the end of Sept 23, at the mb dealer, that i purchased from.

My point is , a mercedes dealer , who sold me the car, with a 12 month approved used warranty, should have carried out this transmission service, where as a indie is not obliged to do so, as if selling the cars isn't offering a 12 months mercedes warranty.
Mb dont backtrack the ess . Once the time and date pass , they move on.

I get that, but. As I've said in previous posts, I've got a 12 month mercedes approved used warranty, and if the gearbox develops a fault, and the service hasn't been performed at year 5, service 5. Surely the warranty claim could be rejected?

Likely. 👍

Plenty of Approved Used cars sold at dealers do not have a complete service history. Unfortunately the likelihood of this now being done retrospectively FOC is low, had you spotted it prior to sale then your chances would have been better.

If the dealer had told you that the transmission service had been done, or you have information from them or the Apprived Used programme which says that as an Apprived Used car the service history will be complete, then you would have a case.

If you want it done then you should prepare yourself for having to pay for it.

I wouldn't listen to a salesman , the mb ess is open to the public , just go on and it tells you exactly what's what . My e350 coupe was 9g and it gave me a service code on the dash , something like B5 . 90 days before it's 5th birthday.

Iirc 72000 was a 7g gearbox mileage
I'm a bit puzzled now, what mileage did your Eclass have on it when you got it serviced ??

This is what the electronic service sheet (ESS) says:

Service 20 every 62,000 miles / 5 years
Automatic transmission: Change oil and oil filter - Transmission 724.2
Service 20 every 77,500 miles / 5 years
Automatic transmission: Change oil and oil filter (incl. Transfer case with Code M005 - 4MATIC)
Transmission 725.0 except code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) up to model year 2016
Transmission 725.0 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) up to model year 2016

My sheet mentions transmission 725.096 as an exception. Also 725.047 . Upto 2017 . Screenshot_20240222-212620.png

wow !! mine has 50000 on it now and it has 28 days until service A due, so I have booked it in for the 12th march, and asked the question about gearbox service again, and was told again that it's not due yet?

What I don't understand is why it isn't showing up as needing it serviced as it's nearly 6 years old

Are they saying it's not due yet because they assume that it's been done once already??

It’s now past due so it won’t show up as being due. You can ask them to do it anyway (if you pay).

Yeah maybe, I will be ringing them this morning because I was told when I bought it was all up to date and no need for a gearbox service until 72000

I still have a months Approved warranty left so I want it done now FOC because I feel that I have been lied to

Thanks for your input

Is that a typo or do you only have one month of approved used warranty remaining, because you previously mentioned buying it in January?

From the Mercedes website:

If your vehicle is due a service in the first 3,000 miles or 3 months of ownership (whichever comes first), we will cover the cost.[c]
c]
Where a vehicle requires a service within the first 3,000 miles or 3 months of ownership, it must be serviced at the Retailer from which the vehicle was purchased.
Source:

If you bought the car in January this year, and a service is due now (or was at the time of purchase), then you have a case and the supplying dealer should perform the work FOC.

However if the service is overdue or missed then the supplying is not obliged to do anything to “catchup” as there is no obligation to do so as far as I can see in the Approved Used information online.

Unless you have something in writing which suggests otherwise, then unfortunately I would be surprised if the dealer performs the missed service item as it should have been done in 2021/2 if registered in 2017.

60,000KM (or 4 years).

It was probably declined when due buy the previous customer.
Can you photo your findings and upload them to here. Those figures don't add up tbh for a 9g .
